Joel T. Shackelford concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial litigation and professional liability defense. He also serves as general counsel for various businesses in the distribution, entertainment, real estate, and technology industries.
Mr. Shackelford has experience litigating matters involving general commercial litigation, construction law, employment law, environmental law, land use, municipal law, professional liability defense (for architects and engineers, attorneys, accountants, insurance agents and brokers, and real estate and title agents), real property litigation, securities, and toxic torts.
Mr. Shackelford received his Juris Doctor and Master in Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine University School of Law. Prior to that, he recieved his Bachelor of Science in Economics, summa cum laude, along with his Bachelor of Business Administration, summa cum laude, from Loyola Marymount University where he was the Valedictorian of the School of Economics. He was also a recipient of the Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Economics Award.
Among other professional engagements, Mr. Shackelford is currently a member of the Steering Committee for the Southern California Chapter of PLUS.
Recently, Mr. Shackelford was named a Super Lawyers 2012 “Rising Star” in Southern California.
