Opening Session on Neurohacking and Social Engineering with Matt Salmon, Technical Exploitation Specialist
It doesn’t matter how thick the castle walls may be nor how many defense mechanisms are in place, there will always be one aspect of any organization left vulnerable, humans. Social Engineers exploit basic human nature in order to influence individuals to take an action that may or may not be in their best interest. In this presentation we will look into the minds of social engineers and identify the behaviors they prey on. We will also use social engineering tactics to display how human hacking works and why it is so effective. There is no way to ensure complete security, this session will help identify preventative measures to reduce the probability of a successful attack.

The quest to insure mainly companies that won’t get breached is and will remain an elusive goal. After all, everyone gets breached. Yet, much depends on how quickly the victim detects and responds to the intrusion, and there many outward signals about which companies may be a better bet than others. This talk will examine some of the biggest reasons organizations get hacked; trends in breach response; what to look for in companies with the ability to weather data breaches without having to disclose them; and of course emerging cybersecurity threats.
