A Message from the PLUS Foundation President

As we embark on a new year the professional liability industry is facing challenges in the form of evolving risks and emerging loss activity. Our industry colleagues are more focused than ever on coverage and claims handling in order to make sure that policy holders have what they need to be secure in these uncertain times.

The professional liability industry, through the PLUS Foundation, is also responding on a personal level by giving back in local communities, providing scholarships to the children of PLUS members, and promoting and supporting diversity and inclusion efforts through the Womens Leadership Network. In 2019 the PLUS community accomplished the following:

• Supported 32 charities in local communities through our PLUS Chapters throughout the United States with almost $78,000 in support.
• Provided four merit scholarships and five financial aid scholarships for a total of $108,000.
• Financed our largest ever Conference Cause supporting the USO Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore Chapter in Washington, DC with a donation of $73,500, that includes funding and packing 1,000 care packages for U.S. troops.
• Contributed funding for nine Womens Leadership Networking events. I am so pleased that we also initiated a new Womens Leadership Scholarship this year raising enough funds to award $5,000 scholarships to two outstanding women for educational programs that will benefit their career development.

The PLUS member companies and individuals that have generously contributed to the PLUS Foundation have made this all possible.

At times our industry can be financially rewarding, and at times it can be financially challenged, however, no matter which period we are in, the PLUS members have found it in their hearts to keep giving back to the PLUS Foundation through donations and volunteering. I am grateful for the opportunity to lead the Foundation in 2020, and am honored to serve as a board member and to work with all the members of PLUS, the PLUS Board Trustees, and my co-Directors on the Foundation Board. Together we will continue to make a positive impact in our local communities and provide people with the opportunity to meet their full potential. Thank you for Giving Back!
