PLUS enters 2025 with exciting momentum. Under the leadership of Jacqueline Waters, President of the PLUS Board of Trustees, the organization continues to expand its reach, strengthen its community, and provide critical resources to help members navigate an ever-changing industry. Jacqueline recently shared her thoughts on valuable initiatives and programs that PLUS has curated to ensure its members remain at the forefront of its mission.

A Growing Membership and Expanding Engagement
One of the most significant milestones has been PLUS’ move to a free membership model in 2022, opening the doors for every professional liability practitioner to participate. The impact has been immediate: participation has grown across the board, from live events like the PLUS Symposia Series and the annual PLUS Conference, to webinars, content contributions, and chapter networking opportunities.

Staying Ahead of Emerging Risk
With new risks constantly reshaping the market across all professional lines from D&O to cyber to employment practices and beyond, PLUS has stayed focused on anticipating what’s next. “We are working to stay on top of and be mindful of what our members are dealing with,” Waters explains. PLUS serves as a hub for discussion, networking, and idea-sharing that helps members stay prepared in a shifting landscape.

Building the Next Generation of Leaders
Supporting future leaders is another cornerstone of PLUS’ mission. Industry veterans who retain a vast amount of critical knowledge are likely to enter retirement at increased rates in the coming years, and PLUS continues to implement effective ways to aid in the transfer of that expertise to the next generation. Through Future PLUS, which is open to professionals under 35, members have access to tailored networking, skill-building, and mentorship. This year, the Future PLUS Advancement Initiative launched, designed to bridge gaps for rising professionals by connecting them with senior leaders, expanding their skills, and preparing them not only substantively but also for upcoming leadership roles.

Education and Designation Programs
PLUS also continues to deliver highly respected educational opportunities. The RPLU Designation remains a hallmark of industry expertise, while proprietary programs like PLUS University, Cyber University, and D&O University offer valuable learning opportunities for professionals at every career stage. Whether just entering the field or seeking fresh insight into emerging topics, members benefit from content that sharpens knowledge and enhances professional growth.

A Strong and Supportive Community
For Waters, one of PLUS’ greatest strengths is its ability to connect people. “To be part of an industry group that isn’t just the company you work for is really exciting. There is community here for everyone to be a part of.” That spirit of connection is what makes PLUS not only an educational resource, but also a place where lasting professional relationships are formed.

Looking Ahead
Reflecting on her journey from Conference Chair to President, Waters says, “We’ve got a lot of great things in store this year, and we’re looking forward to how the year unfolds.” With growing membership, forward-looking initiatives, and a commitment to education and community, PLUS is well positioned to help members thrive in 2025 and beyond.
