Jay A. Desjardins

Jay is a Managing Director and serves as the National Fiduciary Liability Practice Leader and as Strategic Head of Education and Training within our Financial Services Group (“FSG”).
Jay serves as a resource to the FSG deal teams in the negotiation and placement of complex Fiduciary Liability programs, and assists the FSG Legal Team in resolving complex claim disputes between Aon clients and Fiduciary Liability insurers. He monitors ERISA litigation, settlements, statistics, and regulatory changes. In collaboration with FSG Legal, he negotiates with leading Fiduciary Liability insurance markets to develop standard Aon endorsements to the markets’ base policy forms. He also educates diverse internal and client audiences regarding trends in Fiduciary Liability legal and claims activity, as well as the parameters of Fiduciary Liability insurance coverage.
Jay also leads the FSG Education and Training Committee, which drives the execution of a robust and dynamic curriculum that provides the FSG brokerage and claims teams with the most current and impactful knowledge and information.
Jay first began working in the insurance industry in 2001. He has been with Aon since that time, and has held roles of increasing responsibility during his tenure with the company.
Prior to joining Aon, Jay practiced law for 12 years as both in-house and outside legal counsel, including serving as Associate General Counsel for Rhône-Poulenc Rorer/Aventis Pharmaceuticals. In that role he reported to the Worldwide General Counsel and was responsible for handling legal issues arising from employment, compensation and benefits matters. Previously, Jay worked as an Associate in the Litigation Department of Reed Smith in Philadelphia. His law firm experience consisted of civil trial work and related responsibilities in the areas of products liability, commercial litigation, insurance coverage disputes, labor and employment.
Jay earned a BA degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Juris Doctor from Villanova University School of Law.
