Steve Wasserman

Steve Wasserman is Vice President of Claims, Litigation, and Insurance for BJC Health System. Headquartered in St. Louis, BJC is a super-regional, integrated health system, with 24 hospitals and 47,000 employees in Missouri, Southern Illinois and Eastern Kansas.

Steve leads BJC’s enterprise-wide claims and litigation team, and is responsible for the strategic direction and implementation of BJC’s insurance and risk financing programs.

Steve joined BJC in 2017 after 25 years in private practice, during which he represented hospitals and health care providers in medical malpractice lawsuits throughout eastern Missouri and southern Illinois. During this time, he tried dozens of cases and mediated hundreds more.

Steve has been privileged to present at regional, national, and international conferences on topics ranging from insurance program renewal strategies to modern claims management tactics.
