Susan Hankins

Susan Hankins is the Director of the Southeast Region for Markel, where she leads the regional healthcare team. With over 20 years of experience in the casualty and healthcare sectors, Susan has a proven track record of navigating complex insurance landscapes. Before joining Markel, she spent five years at Ironshore, notably launching the firm’s digital health product and managing a diverse portfolio that included inpatient behavioral health, hospice, and medical staffing. Her deep expertise also extends to hospital underwriting and complex E&S business, including the development of a primary hospital form during her tenure at Beazley. A graduate of the University of Georgia with a BBA in Risk Management, Susan balances her professional life by traveling and enjoying time with her family, friends, and two goldendoodles.
