PLUS Modules

PLUS offers 23 modules covering a variety of topics in professional liability. These modules (in any of the following formats) can be studied individually or as part of the requirements for earning a PLUS Designation or PLUS Certificate.

Modules are available in the following formats:

1. Online eLearning | Available for Modules 1 – 12, 15, 17, 18, 21 and 23 only

This format provides the module content an interactive design that is completed entirely online. You can also purchase the following sets in this format. Save 15% by purchasing a set versus individual eLearning modules!

Core Module Set | Includes eLearning Modules 1 through 8
Certificate in PLI | Includes eLearning Modules 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6
Certificate in Cyber | Includes eLearning Modules 1, 2, 3, 6, and 23
Certificate in Medical PL | Includes eLearning Modules 3, 6, 7, and 17

2. Hard Copy | Available for Modules 12 - 14, 16, 20 and 22 only

This format provides the module content as a printed hard copy. Access to the content in a digital download format is also included, but please note that there have been increasing reports of technical issues with Adobe Digital Editions (the specific program used to access the digital download format). The hard copy module is sent via standard shipping, and the digital download is available immediately after purchase.

Due to increased issues with Adobe's program, Adobe Digital Editions, PLUS has decided to discontinue selling PLUS modules in the digital download format. If you've purchased a module in this format previously or purchase a hard copy module, the digital download will still be accessible. Please note, however, that you may experience issues related to Adobe Digital Editions, which are out of PLUS's control. If you have questions or issues with the digital download format, please contact PLUS.

Additionally, in an effort to grow on-demand educational offerings, PLUS will be retiring the hard copy format for modules once they are available in the online eLearning format. Hard copy modules include access to a digital download format of the content, as well. Once this format is retired, the module will only be available for purchase in the eLearning format. If you've purchased a hard copy module prior to it being retired, you will still be able to access it, study it and have it count towards PLUS Designations and/or Certificates. Please be sure to check the module and exam copyright date, as PLUS is in the process of reviewing and updating modules and their corresponding exams. As such, the content in existing hard copy and/or digital download formats may not reflect updates (if any) which may impact your knowledge for the exam.

PLUS Exams

PLUS is proud to offer proctored exams through Prometric. You can now take a proctored exam in-person at a testing center near you or remotely online from the comfort of your home or office. Regardless of how you take your proctored exam, it will count towards your PLUS Designation and/or PLUS Certificate. Additionally, proctored exams are eligible for Continuing Education credit.

What’s a proctored exam? Is this the only testing option available?

A proctored exam is taken in a secure setting monitored by a testing administrator. This is often required by state insurance departments to be eligible for Continuing Education credit.

If you need Continuing Education credit for your state insurance license, you must take a proctored exam. Click here to learn more about requesting Continuing Education credit for your PLUS exam.

How are proctored exams formatted?

Each proctored exam is 30 to 50 multiple choice questions. You will have 2 hours to complete the exam, including Prometric’s safety and security procedures, a pre-exam tutorial, and time to review your answers before submitting your exam.

After you finish your exam, you’ll receive your results. A score of 70% or higher is required for passing the exam. If you don’t pass, you can purchase a re-take exam. While there is no waiting period required before re-purchasing an exam, you will have to wait 24 hours before scheduling your re-take exam through Prometric.

What kind of safety and security procedures are required by Prometric?

Whether testing in-person or online, you will be required to go through Prometric’s safety and security procedures. Learn what to expect by watching the following videos or reading frequently asked questions from Prometric:

Do you offer exam waivers?

If you have a professional designation(s) or educational experience, you may qualify for an exam waiver. Waivers count towards all designations (CPLP, RPLU, and RPLU+) as well as Certificates. Click here to view available waivers and required criteria. To receive a waiver, the following steps must be completed:

  1. Select the appropriate waiver and submit with payment. Waivers are available for purchase online here (click to Page 2) or by downloading and completing the PLUS Designation Waiver Application here.
  2. Upload the required documentation, transcripts, or certificates under the Document Uploads section of the Member Dashboard

Each waiver application is $75. This fee is non-refundable and does not guarantee approval of the waiver application. Once your waiver application has been reviewed and approved, you'll receive a confirmation email from PLUS.
