Adam Sedgewick serves as Senior Information Technology Policy Advisor at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. In this role, Adam represents NIST on the Department of Commerce’s Internet Policy Task Force and advises NIST leadership on cybersecurity issues. Previously, Adam was Senior Advisor to the Federal Chief Information Officer Council, developing and coordinating cross-agency initiatives and assisting in the implementation of government wide policy.

Adam served as Professional Staff Member for the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs for nine years, handling cyber security and federal information technology policy. In 2008 and 2013, Sedgewick received the Fed 100 award for his contributions to the Federal information technology community and both BankInfoSecurity and GovInfoSecurity named Sedgewick a “Top Ten Influencer” for 2014. He was also awarded the 2014 AFCEA Government-Wide Initiatives Excellence Awards for Security, and was named one of Security Magazine’s Most Influential People in Security for 2014.

Christopher Keegan (PANELIST)

Christopher Keegan is Senior Managing Director and Cyber and Technology Practice Leader at Beecher Carlson in the Executive Liability Practice. Chris places network, privacy, technology and media E&O insurance for a wide variety of companies including financial institutions, authentication providers, manufacturers, healthcare, retail and telecommunications companies. Christopher has also executed Cyber Information Risk Assessment projects and worked with regulators on evaluation of E-Business risks.

Prior to joining Beecher, Christopher was a National Resource at Willis for Cyber and E&O and a leader of the Information Risk Advisory Practice at Marsh focusing on Privacy, Technology, Media, Network Intellectual Property and Professional Liability insurance products.

Before joining Marsh, Christopher was Vice President at Zurich Reinsurance (North America) Inc., where he was instrumental in the development of the Zurich Re E-Commerce and technology reinsurance portfolio, advising the company with regard to infringements of intellectual property rights, breach of rights of privacy, electronic contracts, electronic signatures, trademarks, trade secrets, electronic attacks and electronic breaches of security.
<br/><br/>
Chris worked in New York and London as a lawyer in private practice from 1985 to 1999, dealing with general commercial and corporate risks, professional liability claims and reinsurance disputes. During this period, he worked on risks faced by financial institutions and technology companies, including those arising from computer crimes and Y2K dealing with matters in the United Kingdom, Europe, the Middle East, the Far East, Latin America and the United States.
<br/><br/>
Christopher is closely involved with the development of new insurance products designed to transfer electronic risk and is often asked to speak on these topics at seminars and functions throughout the United States and Canada. He has published a number of articles and books on privacy, intellectual property and technology and is licensed to practice law in New York, New Zealand and England.

Chris is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Maryland, Smith School of Business, assisting their efforts for the Department of Homeland Security and NIST in designing assessments for Cyber and technology risk. Christopher graduated from Long Island University with a B.A. in English and a J.D. from Saint John’s University School of Law.

<p>Rick Betterley is the president of Betterley Risk Consultants, a national risk management consulting firm founded in 1932. He has been a consultant since 1974 and president of the firm since 1984. BRC is located in Friendship, Maine.

Tom Reagan is the Cyber Practice leader within Marsh’s Financial and Professional Products (FINPRO) Specialty Practice. Located in Marsh’s New York office, Tom oversees client advisory and placement services for cyber risk throughout the country. In addition to his management responsibilities, Tom also serves as the senior cyber advisor for some of Marsh’s largest clients.

Timothy P. Ryan is a managing director based in New York where he leads Kroll’s Cyber Investigations practice. Prior to joining Kroll, Tim had a distinguished career as a Supervisory Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), where he supervised the largest cyber squad in the United States. An expert in responding to all forms of computer crime, attacks and abuse, Tim has led complex cyber investigations involving corporate espionage, advanced computer intrusions, denial of service, insider attacks, malware outbreaks, Internet fraud and theft of trade secrets. Tim also served as ccting director of the FBI’s New Jersey Regional Computer Forensics Lab, one of the nation’s largest, state-of-the-art digital forensic laboratories. As a member of the FBI’s elite Computer Analysis and Response Team, Tim also conducted numerous computer forensic examinations.
<br/><br/>
Tim has provided cyber expertise to state and local law enforcement on investigations of crimes, including homicides, stalking, missing children, cyber-bullying and internal affairs. A certified FBI instructor, he developed a cyber-based curriculum and trained hundreds of law enforcement and private professionals in evidence acquisition, security policy and implementation, breach response and mitigation, hacker methodology and employee Internet safety.
<br/><br/>
Tim is an adjunct professor at Seton Hall University School of Law where he teaches cyber crime and cyber security to law students, prosecutors, defense attorneys and homeland security professionals. Tim has been interviewed and quoted by numerous media outlets, among them <em>The Wall Street Journal</em>, CNN, <em>Newsweek</em>, and <em>USA Today. </em>

Before joining the FBI, Tim was an accomplished attorney in private practice in Arizona. Earlier, he served as Military Police with the U.S. Army during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm, for which he was awarded multiple commendations for service and actions on duty.
