RPLU Designation

Starting on April 15, 2025, PLUS designation programs will require a $150.00 application fee when applying for a designation program. Certificate programs will not require an application fee.

Any member who applies for a designation program prior to April 15, 2025 will not be required to pay an application fee for the program(s) they have applied for.

How to Earn Your RPLU Designation:

Be a PLUS member
Enroll in the RPLU Designation Program here
Have at least 2 years of insurance industry experience
Complete the following | View required modules here
- Module 1: Fundamentals of Liability Insurance
- Module 2: Commercial General Liability Insurance Overview
- Module 3: Professional Liability Insurance: Introduction
- Module 4: Financial Analysis
- Module 5: Professional Liability Reinsurance
- Module 6: Professional Liability Insurance Claims
- Module 7: Medical Professional Liability Insurance Intro
- Module 8: Directors & Officers Liability Insurance Introduction
- Choose any 5 modules from Module 9 - Module 23

Once you’ve completed the requirements above, go to your Education Programs dashboard and click the Affirm Completion link for your RPLU designation program. Your credentials will be reviewed, and once approved, you’ll receive a confirmation email with designation-specific information, including how to download your designation certificate. Note: This approval process can take a few business days.

After you’ve earned your RPLU designation, there is no maintenance requirement.

Complete 5 additional modules chosen from Modules 9 – 23 that weren’t completed as part of your RPLU designation. View modules here

How do I enroll in a designation program? Why is this required?

Enrolling in the designation program streamlines your experience by allowing you to track your progress through your Education Programs dashboard, notifying PLUS that you’ve completed the designation requirements, and accessing your designation certificate electronically.

After logging in, you'll be taken directly to the cart to complete your enrollment, where you can select modules related to the designation and pay the application fee.

*Purchasing additional modules during the enrollment process is optional. If you choose to purchase anything, note that all available versions of a module may be listed, including versions of a module you may already have. You should only select 1 version (e.g. non-CE eligible, CE-eligible, or waiver) of the module(s) you don't have already.

What if I don’t have 2 years of industry experience yet?

What format are modules in and how much do they cost? Do I have to take an exam?

Modules are available in an interactive eLearning format that is accessed and completed on any device with internet connection through the PLUS Learning Center. Each module is available in either a non-CE eligible version ($325) or a CE-eligible version ($400).

There’s an exam component required for each module except Module 1: Fundamentals of Liability Insurance. Both the module and its exam component must be completed to satisfy the designation’s requirement. The format of the exam and how you complete it depends on whether you purchase a non-CE or CE-eligible module.

What’s the difference between a CE-eligible module, a non-CE eligible module, and a waiver?

CE-eligible and non-CE eligible modules, as well as waivers, all count equally towards the requirements for a designation. Which one you select depends on your specific educational needs and background.

CE-eligible modules should be selected only by those who have state insurance licenses and need Continuing Education credit for their renewal. They include the module and its exam component – a cumulative proctored exam administered by Prometric.
Non-CE eligible modules can be selected by anyone. They include the module and its exam component, which are both completed online in the PLUS Learning Center.
Module waivers are available to those who meet certain criteria, such as other professional designations or higher education.
