Bill Burns of Conning will discuss 2021 MPL insurance industry financial results and the key drivers of these results. This session will provide Connings perspective on challenges MPL insurers are facing, including changes in healthcare that are impacting these insurers as well as Connings view of what the future might hold for the MPL market.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Bill Burns, Conning

Bill Burns is a Director on Connings Insurance Research team.  His main coverage areas are medical professional liability, commercial auto, and reinsurance. Prior to joining Conning, Bill was the head of reinsurance loss reserving at Everest Re. Bill has served as the chief actuary at two medical professional liability companies and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences. In 2019, he was appointed to an advisory panel that will provide counsel on financial risk resulting from the US healthcare systems transition from fee-for-service to value-based reimbursement. Bill is an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society, a Member of The American Academy of Actuaries and a graduate of Seton Hall University with a BS in Mathematics.
