We were thrilled to host dozens of members at our annual PLUS University, August 13 & 14, in Chicago. This educational program was developed in 2007 by thought leaders who designed it for entry-level professional liability insurance practitioners and those that may be transferring in from another area of expertise. PLUS University is the premier educational program for newer practitioners, and it continues to evolve along with the rapidly growing and changing industry.

Set in the heart of the Chicago Loop, the event featured 10 instructional, CE/CLE-eligible sessions led by 12 experts who together had over 250 years of industry experience to leverage and share with attendees. This year’s agenda saw the addition of a new session, Fiduciary Liability Insurance, to address the growing focus on this area of importance. Sessions included:

  1. Professional Liability Evolution and Concepts
  2. Understanding the Commercial General Liability Policy
  3. The Importance of Financial Statements
  4. Professional Liability Reinsurance
  5. All About Professional Liability Claims
  6. Understanding Directors and Officers Coverage
  7. Employment Practices Liability Insurance
  8. Healthcare and Medical Professional Liability Insurance
  9. Fiduciary Liability Insurance
  10. Cyber Insurance: Multifaceted Coverages for Multifaceted Risks

Our instructors illuminated each subject by sharing actual scenarios that have impacted professional liability insurance. From the collapse of the FTX exchange and Enron, to rising disability claims, nuclear verdicts, and the shock of a global pandemic, each session was brought to life alongside historic events.

PLUS University is also more than just a two-day experience, as attendees also receive the following educational components along with their registration:

  1. Module 1: Fundamentals of Liability Insurance
  2. Module 2: Commercial General Liability Insurance Overview
  3. A waiver for Module 3: Professional Liability Insurance Introduction
  4. Module 4: Financial Analysis
  5. Virtual Industry Roundtable Session (CE/CLE-eligible)

These curriculum modules not only comprise 4 of the 8 core required modules for the RPLU Designation, but they also represent critical building blocks to advanced education and professional growth.

Investing in professional development is the key to unlocking your full potential and staying ahead in today’s fast-paced market. If you haven’t already, get started on your career development journey by embracing growth and seeking new challenges—your future self will thank you!
